 this is a XLR to Jack cable, this is used for dynamic mic's this goes straight into the amp rather than the computer
this is a XLR to XLR cable this is used for a dynamic mic in a recording studio so it record on the comp via the audio interface

recording sessions 1-4
1) I will import original song onto cubase on channel 1 and start the first vocal recording from Emlyn in channel 2, we will useone mic which is the dynamic microphone. we will not use any amps but use a set of headphones so that emlyn can hear the backing track and a mic stand. this session will last approx 40 minutes.This track will be saved in my computer/btecmusic/yr11/jakwademan-nash
2) I will record the drum beat in channel 3 for the back ground to keep the song beat in time, we will only use one microphone which is a condenser mic.we will not use any amps but use a set of headphones so that emlyn can hear the backing track and a mic stand. this session will last approx 35 mins This track will be saved in my computer/btecmusic/yr11/jakwademan-nash
3)this session we will record Dan playing the guitar for the track in channel 4, we will use a condenser  mic with mic stand but no amps, i will also use a XLR to XLR lead and a XLR to JACK lead with 2 sets of headphones, this session will be approx 45 mins This track will be saved in my computer/btecmusic/yr11/jakwademan-nash
4) I will equalise the tracks and place them so they are in time and sound right with the rest of the tracks this session will last approx 25 mins This track will be saved in my computer/btecmusic/yr11/jakwademan-nash
5) I will mix all tracks into one and send to soundcloud once everything has been equalised, sequenced and effects have been added. this session will last approx 25 mins This track is saved in my computer/btecmusic/yr11/jakwademan-nash

How to Mix:
take each track and solo them, press play to listen for any mistakes, make sure all tracks are normalised, cut mistakes and delete/crop, 'gate' the quite noises that aren't needed (click the little e and press insert gate), equalise all tracks, balance volumes and finally reverb to suit all the track and then add compression once finished.

H&S:
1) there will be a lot of wires and lead so i will need to make sure they are taped down.
2) to ensure sound safety by not having the music so loud it damages hearing i will need to check the music levels before I start recording.
3) i will remind the musicians that there is to be NO eating or drinking in the studio because of the equipment.
